Themed placeholder text

Hipster ipsum. You have probably not heard of it.

Placeholder text for brands that were artisanal before artisanal was a marketing word — small-batch sentences about fixies, film cameras and sourdough starters, generated locally, obviously.

Everything is generated locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Limits: 50 paragraphs, 200 sentences, 5,000 words or 20,000 characters per run.

What this is for

Some mockups — a roastery, a vintage shop, a craft brand — look wrong in Latin and wronger in corporate filler. Hipster ipsum matches the voice of brands that thrift their furniture and ferment their drinks: sentences built from an original bank of objects (typewriters, mason jars, cassette tapes) and credentials (small-batch, heirloom, upcycled), arranged in suitably self-aware patterns.

The bank was written for this site, by hand, presumably on a typewriter. Seeds are supported, because even irony benefits from version control.

Frequently asked questions

Is this making fun of hipsters?

It is making placeholder text. The affection is genuine — half these objects are genuinely nice things to own.

What pairs well with it?

The coffee ipsum generator covers the café half of the aesthetic; the classic generator covers everything else.
